The PBY Memorial Foundation
Presents:
In Defense
of Their Nation
Here is the story of how the
Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and an unlikely Navy Seaplane
transformed a small Island farming community in Puget Sound.
On December 6, 1941 Oak Harbor,
Washington was a quiet, pastoral farming community. By the following
day, it's future would be unalterably changed. The history of
this Whidbey Island community comes alive through the voices
of farmers, residents and Navy pilots who witnessed this critical
period of our nation's life. The little known PBY aircraft would
be the mechanism for this change.
